Radio Orpheus is a unique state-run classical music channel. Its programmes are based entirely on music written over centuries of existence of classical music as an art form.

Radio Orpheus closely cooperates with the leading Russian and foreign orchestras, conductors and soloists. It also helps to arrange recordings in the best concert halls in Moscow, seeing promotion of academic classical music as its main objective.

Its information, analytic and music programmes as well as news bulletins bring its listeners up to date with the most important events on the Russian and international music scenes.

Radio Orpheus arranges interviews with prominent musicians and outstanding personalities in the realm of culture to discuss with them most acute issues of academic art. There are also interactive radio programmes attracting vast audiences of classical music lovers.

Radio Orpheus is a member of  “International Composers’ Tribune” under the UN Education and Scientific Organisation and the European Broadcasting Union, exchanging  music recordings with a number of European broadcasters. This collaboration gives its Russian audience a unique chance of listening to the best music from more than 40n countries.

Radio Orpheus is an organiser and a co-organiser of a series of international festivals including “Radio Orpheus is Presenting…”, the Alexander III Bridge (supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of France), “Meeting Russia” (jointly with German broadcasters), the Festival  of Dutch Music (jointly with the Dutch Radio and the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands). The company also participates in the preparation of the programme “Russian Days at Radio Hungary”.

In 2007 Radio Orpheus was a bidder at the Frequency Distribution Contest, winning the 99.2 FM frequency. At present the company is getting prepared to begin broadcasting.
